American citizen but a foreign native born in southern Germany, raised in northern Japan. He holds a Ph.D. degree in biblical theology (Center for Advanced Theological Studies, Fuller Theological Seminary). Dr. Waterman mainly lives in Los Angeles, California. He studied various subjects (philosophy, sociology, etc.) and languages in Japan and in America (Hirosaki University, University of Tokyo, Fuller Theological Seminary, and other institutions). ローマ法王の新刊『ナザレのイエス』
法王としてより神学者ラッツンガーとして書いたということで、反論・コメント歓迎とのことだ。４００ページの大著。ダブルデーから今月１５日に出たばかり。ヴァメーシュ等の書評はTimesonline で見ることができる。
細君が近くの本屋で見かけたと言うが、結局安いのでアマゾンで買うことにした。ナンデこんなに安いの！法王は教義学者だが、本当は史的イエスに関心があったのだろうか。私にはわからない。史的イエスの研究の本流がドイツ語圏から英語圏に移って久しいが、ドイツ語圏から来た法王が英語で出すというのも流れなのか。 タイトルも「神の子キリスト」でなく、「ナザレのイエス」だからなぁ。カトリックもどんどん変わってゆく。
